AWP fast approaches.  Meet Heather there.  Also, one new story out this November at Underground Voices with more forthcoming stories available in the near future. 

Heather will be doing a flash fiction marathon for prose and prose poems on her myspace blog this November, writing a story a day on various themes.  Please friend her page there if you'd like to join the fun!

November 2008:  One story out this month in Underground Voices

 October 2008:  One story out this month with the new magical realism and experimental writing print journal A Capella Zoo

 August /September 2008: Three stories out at Keyhole, SubLit, and Trespass (out of the UK).  Linked in bio below has e-access to two of these pieces. 

Summer 2008: Acclaimed novelist and author Michael Kimball writes Heather Fowler's life story on postcard installment  #57 for his new book -length project of postcard life stories.   

Summer 2008: On July 15th, Heather Fowler was the featured poet at the New Poetic Brew  reading in San Diego.

Heather Fowler received her M.A. in English and Creative Writing from Hollins University in May of 1997.   She has taught composition, literature, and writing-related courses at UCSD, California State University at Stanislaus, and Modesto Junior College.

Her poetry has recently appeared at INTHEFRAY (February 2008), Empowerment4Women.com (November 2007), and been selected for a joint first place in the 2007 Faringdon Online Poetry Competition (October 2007) , as well as published in various venues including: the Map of Austin Poetry, The Coast Highway Review, the Driftwood Highway 1999 Anthology, Joe's Journal, Best of the Beach 1998, The Publication, and the Cityworks Literary Anthology, Volume 6.

 My Brother Made of Clay & Other Stories--a collected volume of magical realism stories that addresses the ideas of connection, longing, and loss.

 Complete: 

Gravity-- a magical realism, literary love story about two people falling in love at the wrong time with the right person--as the rest of their lives fall apart.

 In Progress:

Fidelities--a novel in progress about a struggling couple in a Chekov-esque apartment building who fall in love separately with the upstairs dominatrix, who helps them repair their marriage.

 Sex Angel--ooh, the blasphemy.  A novel about the right-hand man of God being both female and exceedingly gifted at both protecting mankind and stirring up trouble for fallen angels.

 Poetry Books In Progress--

 Pawnshop Heart-- A 70 page book of feminist, modern free-verse poetry in progress .

 Forms of Love-- An 80 page manuscript of sonnets, sestinas, rondeaus, triolets, blank verse, and ghazals about, you guessed it, love.

They Were Cautionary Tales--A chapbook -length book of poems that re-engages fairy tales earlier than Grimms' for  "past the page" conversations-- and interjects a modern third dimension of parlaying the "unsaid."

For Those Who Taught Me How to Sing, Homage and Parody Poems--A book of intertextual poetry that interfaces and speaks to the art and imagery of many famous artists and poets, such as Ginsberg, Angelou, Shakespeare, Klimt, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Plath, etc.
